The Badger Escapes

December 30th, 2008 - 2:00pm by Slye Fox

My brother, The Badger, was scheduled for release from Englewood prison today. If things went according to plan, he's on the Amtrak back to Minnesota right now. He'll arrive in Minneapolis tomorrow and won't be allowed to see anyone except others in the halfway house for a number of days. During which they'll assign a parole officer and he learns the ropes of his new environment.

Adam is very excited to be out. He's been in prison for over 5 years. At the same time, he's now nearly 30 and well aware and intimidated by the upcoming struggle that awaits and the shock that the regained freedom will bring. The halfway house (with it's severe set of rules) will help with the transition, since all Adam knows is strict structure. It will be a long time before he'll be free to join any of us in our fun and games, but I am definitely excited to know my brother is once again amongst us.

He'll be looking for work that's on a bus line from the 20th and Lake Street area and will want help getting to know the city. It will be a radically different world for him. One of his hopes is to find an outlet to exhibit some of his artwork. Wish him luck!

And so with this -- the Badger blog retires. Or, if he feels like it, maybe he'll want to write about his transition into society. We'll see...

I hope things go as smoothly for him as possible.

Most of the local coffee shops display local artist's work. Maybe when he's ready he could approach some of them to see about getting his stuff into rotation.

Thanks, I hope it's smooth too. I do know a few people that run coffee shops and there's certainly plenty of them around. Definitely something for Adam to try for when he's ready.

Win! But careful -- Stargates might have a tendency to open with all three Fuchs brothers in one place. o_0
