The Art of Caricatures and Defying Boredom.
Happy Birthday - Again! Did you get the card I sent? Hopefully it gae you a laugh. After some of the things Mom's been telling me, it sounds like you could use a good laugh.
I'm glad to hear you finally got in an apartment, even if it's not the one you had hoped for. What the hell was that Mario guy thinking -- straight out lying to you like that. I understand why a person would lie to try and impress people (I've done it often enough in the past), but the guy had to have known that you would find out eventually and that you would be justifiably pissed about it. That's crazy. Especially for an adult. At least it all got settled.
Are you planning on staying in this apartment for a while then, or is it just temporary until you can get a better place? Mom said it was pretty tiny, but I suppose you don't need a whole lot of room right now? Where's this place at, is it a decent neighborhood?
I'm sorry to hear about you and Joy splitting up, but you need to do what's right for you. From what it sounded like, Joy had a lot of the same problems that I do - insecurity, paranoia, etc. I can't imagine going out with or living with someone like that - I know I sure as hell couldn't stand to date me for an extended period of time! Maybe in time, she'll be able to figure out how to change what needs changing. Do you guys still see quite a bit of each other around town? Mom said you guys frequent the same bars.
How's everything going otherwise? Anymore little redneck brats shoot holes in your car? Work junkets to Europe? Anything? How's the website business going?
Not much new is going on here. I'm still snipping shorts at UNICOR. I've started running lately - 2 or 3 miles twice a week. I think this could be a sign of further psychosis. I've also been trying to keep up with pool and volleyball, and of course 20-30 hours a week of drawing.
Right now I'm drawing an 11x14 winter ranch scene in the mountains for Mom for christmas. I've got about 25 hours into it and it's maybe 1/4 of the way done - it's going pretty slow because of all the details. I've also been teaching myself how to do caricatures, and although it's tough learning on my own how to stretch and exaggerate facial features without losing likeness, it's going pretty well. It's also really fun!
Other than that, not much is going on. That's the main reason I don't write more often, every letter is pretty much the same because not much changes in here. Our biggest topic of conversation for the last month was the fact that they took the salt shakers out of the dining hall - too many people with high cholesteral. And while I know that your on the edge of your seat anxiously awaiting earth shattering news like this - it's not quite worth its own letter. (39 cents is half an hours work. :) ) But, I'll try to write more often.
