Visitation Day

I've just got a few minutes before I have to run to Drug Education, so I'll not run on to long. Mom said that you were thinking about coming down this weekend. That sounds great to me! The only problem is with the extremely efficient and wonderful prison paperwork system, (can you hear the sarcasm dripping from the page?) I haven't received word yet that you have been cleared as a visitor. It only took Mom and Kevin about a week and a half to get cleared through, so I'm hoping you'll be cleared by the weekend. It took me longer to put your info in for a spot on the list because I didn't have your phone number until a few weeks ago, and then my counselor was on vacation, so I was not able to get the right form until last week. (Yes, Virginia, it is a wonderful and efficient system.) So, your best bet would be to check out the website or call the prison to see if you are cleared to visit. If you can't get confirmation or haven't received a letter from me, (I'll write again as soon as I get notified you're on my list), don't make the drive. We'll just have to try it some other time. (Just to give you a peek at how serious these people take their job, my counselor - the person I have to see to get just about everything done - only works Sunday-Wednesday, and has already taken 3 weeks of vacation in the 2 months I've been here. Must be rough, huh?

So anyway, if you can't get a for sure one way or the other, another weekend would probably be safer. It's good that you wanna come though, it's been a long time since we've had a chance to talk. Federal courtrooms on sentencing day are not exactly conducive to a good conversation! Ha, ha, ha.

Well, I've gotta fo - it's almost time for DEP, (Drug Education Program.) It's a mandatory class M,W,F mornings for 6 weeks. The good thing is that it's not just about drugs which don't really pertain to me anymore, but deals with trying to change your lifestyle as well. So it does have a little value. I just wish it wasn't costing me $6.00 in lost work time to take the class. Trust me - when you make less than a Thailand sweatshop worker and a pair of sweat pants costs $17.55, $6.00 is a frickin' fortune. But it'll all come out in the end.

Anywho, hopefully I'll see you this weekend, if not then some other time. Take care, have fun, and even though I've given up alcohol - crack one open for me!
