And now the Rabbit, too.

Damnit-it-all anyway. Last week, my brother Kevin had his annual checkup and they found lumps again. There was a chance that it was just an infection in his lung cavity, but today the doctor called to say his PET scan shows masses in most of his lymph nodes in the chest area. There's still a chance that this is all a false alarm and it's just an infection. But the doctor's tone and his clarity in expressing the new growths everywhere make everything seem like he's preparing for the worst.

So - the Rabbit's surgery to install a chest tube is on Tuesday, also in the Children's Hospital, and Mira's is Monday. Party on the surgical wing! We'll all be there camping out for a few days waiting to hear positive news.

The results of Kevin's biopsy came back positive today. It's bad news, but what everybody pretty much expected. He's in a lot of pain right now as there's a lot of pressure on his left lung. Tomorrow he'll have the chest tube installed to relieve that. (They didn't need the tube for biopsy as expected.)

Then as soon as he's able, they'll begin the chemotherapy treatments. This will continue for about 3 or 4 months until all of the cancer and other stem cells are killed. Then since all of his healthy stem cells have been killed as well, they'll be replaced with a bone-marrow transplant sometime in May or June. It's not a pretty picture and Kevin will have much to endure. Again. Worse this time.

You're a trooper, Rabbit. We're pulling for you and sharing any anguish as best we can. Hopefully, the side effects are minimal this time around.

Cheers - bro. I'll see you soon.
