Kevin had his surgery to have the port removed from inside his Lt chest wall yesterday. It went well and he is recuperating nicely with just moderate Lt arm and shoulder discomfort today. THAT was the last scheduled regular treatment!! From here on there are only follow-ups--fairly frequently at first, then down the road every 6 months. It sure feels wonderful to finally be at this point.
On Sunday we stayed in the cities overnight so we would be at the hospital early Monday morning for the labs, physical and surgery. But we went down on Sunday primarily to hear Joy Divine sing in her jazz debut at Marysburg wine and coffee emporium. For those of you who don't know, Joy is Ryan's special girl. She has a wonderful voice and it was so enjoyable to see her perform and hear her voice with the great pianist, drummer, and guitarist that accompanied her. Hopefully this will open some much desired doors for her in the near future. It is so good to see that talent being used and enjoyed.
Kevin finally recovered his voice by Sunday so he regaled us with his camp stories on the way to the cities. He really did have a great time. It sounds like he was much in demand by the other campers due to his ready wit, ease in front of a crowd, and ability to come up with impromptu skits and jokes. A good friend and fellow camper from Michigan and Kevin were chosen to MC the talent show at the end of the week and it sounds like it was hilarious. A video was taken of the show and hopefully Kevin will receive his copy soon so we can share that with some of you. Kevin had some difficulty with his digital camera so didn't get very many pictures, but many of the other campers will be sharing theirs with Kevin via e-mail, so we will post some of them after Kevin receives them.
