The new ink is in...
Well, it's done. Monday night has come and gone and now I have new ink on my arms. Keith had already drawn up a workable design for my flames when I showed up. We waited around awhile for Joy and Anne to show up (they'd never seen tattooing in progress before) and we were off. It took about 3 hours to do all the lines. And man, those are some damn long lines. I have a high tolerance for pain, but there were defintely places (like the inside of the wrists) were it was more intense.
Another hour later and most of the shading on my left arm was complete. And after 4 hours of tattooing, both the artist and I were ready to call it a night. I'll go back in two weeks and finish them up. That'll allow the tats to heal enough to go poking them with needles again.
So far the healing is going marvelously. No scabbing at all and the skin is nice and supple yet. That vitamin E lotion really makes a difference to keep the scarred skin from tightening up too much while it heals. Now it just feels like a mild case of sunburn. I can certainly live with that. It's pretty cool to look down and see my arms full of ink. I'd had hopes of doing that as soon as I could afford it, and now it's done. :) Well, half way anyway. Two weeks from now it'll be done.
Make sure to check out the new Defiant Tattoo website when you get a chance. We're currently working on filling out the content a bit, but it's already a working conversion from the typical html based site. Once fully in place, it'll be a whole lot easier to upload new pictures and content and maintain the site. So check back often for new changes.
