Tomorrow, Joy and I leave for Tennessee! Looking forward to the R&R, as well as seeing my sweety's homeland. Her brother will pick us up from the airport in Atlanta and we'll spend a couple of days with his family roaming around the southern Appalachians near Chattanooga. (Please - no banjo music - that's Georgia.) This is a part of the country I haven't seen yet, so I'm pretty excited to explore. Rest assured the camera will be in hand.
Other members of Joy's family will be flying in at various times that week and we'll all stay in a cabin near Gatlinburg Friday and Saturday. Our roommate, Anne, will fly in late Friday and join us there.
An old friend of Joy's from the area is nice enough to loan us his BMW for the week. Thanks man. That'll certainly save us a few bucks and allow us to roam further than we would've been able to otherwise.
Then Sunday morning, the three of us will go visit my Grandma to celebrate her birthday. She's in a brand new house with a brand new car and she's sure eager to show it all to us. It's been a few years since I've seen Grandma, so that'll be great. Wow - I was bald back then, too. She's gonna think I've never had hair.
Other relatives from Dad's side will join us there that I haven't seen for a very long time. Some not since I was in diapers. It should be quite an experience for all of us.
And on Monday and Tuesday, we'll resume our exploration of the Tennessee mountains and make sure we've got plenty of relaxing in. After all, it is a vacation, right?
