Reality Sets In
Kevin's hair came out today--just a few fuzzes left up there currently. It all came out quite suddenly this morning. He handled it very well. I had to choke back tears. For me it was like reality has set in. Until today he didn't look like he had cancer--now he does. So he is wearing his favorite beanie which keeps slipping over his eyes because it is a lot looser without his crop of hair underneath. We'll be searching Scheels store for another one soon. Uncle Mike--your old hat collection may come in handy!!
Kevin is still feeling well, but was experiencing bone pain mostly in his hips and lower back today. We were told that might happen as a side effect from the GCSF because his counts were so low. Tylenol is effective, so it is very manageable. Option Care will draw again on Monday, and hopefully the counts will be elevated somewhat. Supposedly this GCSF is a wonder med. I sure hope so, because it burns like crazy whenever Kevin self-injects. At least the burning sensation stops immediately after the injection now, instead of lasting about an hour as it did initially. Just 6 more days of reprieve until the cycle starts all over again!
