Maybe you've heard of this, but INXS has banded together with Mark Burnett of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice" fame to produce a new reality show for CBS. The winner of this one gets to be the lead singer of INXS. All details can be found here... How cool is that. I may not be a fan of reality TV, but I have to admit that I still love INXS from the 80's and it sounds like a damn cool opportunity for whoever gets to try. (Yeah - I was suckered into watching the first couple of "American Idols", too.) So why am I babbling on about this...

Well that would be because Ms Divine has an audition this Wednesday to try out for the show!

Actually it's really quite exciting. Because she knows people in the industry, she got to skip the red-tape of the open audition and go in directly for the second round where they'll be deciding who goes to Hollywood for further screening. Joy's not only one hell of a singer, (like those of us who have heard her crooning at Nye's or Marysburg Books know), but she's also a talented song wirter and musician. In fact stay tuned for pictures from last Wednesday's gig doing backup vocals for Little Man in the "Cover Band Contest" down at First Ave.

For her audition, Joy's selected a couple of her original works and a cover song by No Doubt. Yesterday, her and I spent the day writing up a lead sheet to sing from and provide to her backup musician. Speaking of which, she's hired local professional guitarist, Scott Dercks, to play the backup tracks for her songs. I have to admit, I thought Gwen Stefani was a little ambitious (she's got one hell of a range and set of pipes.) But last night while Joy was practicing and Anne and I were watching "Dead Like Me", I heard sounds coming from the basement that were pretty fucking incredible. Holy shit - I'm really amazed at Joy's true ability. If these guys don't recognize this talent on Wednesday, then they'll have to take the cotton out of their ears.

It's a closed audition, and I'm jealous of the people that will get to hear her this Wednesday. But rest assured that there'll be an update to this post after I learn more about the results.

Congratulations, Sweety - can't wait to hear how it goes!
