Overload of local talent
As many of you know, a couple of weeks ago, I had a kickin' party out on the deck at the condo that involved piano and a keg. Thanks to Jon De Vaal for providing his backup for all of the old Nye's regulars and to some new ones. Lots of people showed up and even a few unexpected (and very welcome) surprises. And of course, out of all the events of the year where a new photo album was warranted, my camera was in the shop and the night is only recorded in this little write-up. :( Certainly won't let that happen again.
Even the Rabbit and his friend's joined us and had fun seeing what alcohol does to people as they become steadily more brazen and extroverted. Hope you three weren't scarred for life. Anne and T helped out with food prep - you definitely knew how to handle that meat, T. ;) And grillmeister Tim kept the smoke rolling.
And then, after everyone was getting a good buzz on, we were in for a treat as the local group, Four Shadow, showed up after their gig singing the national anthem at the Twins game. Incredibly talented a cappella group they are. And they sang in exchange for a few beers and a burger.
And then the next week, a few of us went to see their real deal at the Hennepin Stages. Have to admit, I was quite amazed. I recalled how good they sounded with ears that were under the influence, but the stage performance was phenomenal. So given the opportunity, check out their calendar and go see these guys. You won't be dissapointed.
And to keep it rolling... Anne and T did another standin this last Tuesday for Ruth Koscielak and was joined by Four Shadow on the air. Sorry, I missed that. I was out on a customer call, but I'll certainly tune in for the next one.
Being surrounded by so much talent is inspiring. Choir has started up again and I get to try my own wares in a group setting once more. Perfect timing. And to top it off, there's this gal out there that I know working on her first solo album. It's amazing to watch that creation. We'll get to that when more is complete and ready for publicity. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
I 'spose this entry is a bit of a ramble, but I wanted to at least record these musically related wonderful experiences that have been happening recently. Life is good.
